The Tempe, AZ, team has been active most of this year, even during the heat of the Arizona summers. Here are a few highlights from just one of their outings.

Evangelists John and Brad talked with a man who was raised Orthodox, had fallen away from the Christian faith, but was still searching for truth. He accepted a Rosary, a tract on praying the Rosary, and a “Why Be Catholic” tract.

In the photo, evangelists Brad and Sean talked with young people who live on the street. They were very open to the truth and the evangelists spoke with them for some time. They all left with Rosaries, Miraculous Medals, and various tracts about Catholic truth.

Evangelists Brad and Sean encountered fellow Catholics, who were surprised to see Catholics evangelizing! They thanked us for sharing the truth of the Gospel out on the streets.

Evangelist John talked with a few ASU students about Jesus.

Did you notice that the common theme of all of these encounters was “Truth”? (If you’re puzzled about that last one, think of Jesus’ own words, “I am the way and the TRUTH and the life”—John 14:6, emphasis added.)

“God is the source of all truth. His Word is truth. His Law is truth. … In Jesus Christ, the whole of God’s truth has been made manifest” (CCC 2465–6).

God’s Word (revelation) fulfills the mind’s search for true thought and specifies what faith believes: “Your word is truth” (John 17:17). God’s law fulfills the will’s search for a true life and specifies what charity chooses: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). God’s promises fulfill the heart’s search for true joy and specify what hope trusts: “This is the promise that he made us: eternal life” (1 John 2:25).

All of these are fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the “light of the world.” HE is the ultimate revelation to us of the mystery of God. HE is our ultimate righteousness (holiness). HE is the fulfillment of all of God’s promises to us. In our lives, then, we must cling to HIM with all our hearts.

That is the Good News. That is the mission of the Catholic Church. That is why the Tempe SPSE team keeps taking the Catholic Faith to the streets. Thank you, Team Tempe!
