Detroit, MI. Did you know that some of our teams evangelize at airports? The Detroit team made a recent outing to Detroit Metro Airport, and we received reports from John, and Anne. How did it go? Although they had to obtain permits to evangelize in the airport, and they were able to stand only in small, designated areas, the outing still went decently, according to Anne.

Here is a good encounter reported by John:

“Today I met “Ayman,” a baggage handler at the McNamara airport terminal outside of Detroit.
I started the conversation by asking him if he wanted a rosary. He said “no” and told me he was Muslim. Ayman was raised Muslim in the country of Sudan. He has been in the U.S. for three years.
He actually did most of the talking for about the next twenty minutes. He told me he named his daughter Mariam because there is a full chapter in the Koran about Mary. He talked about how he believed in Jesus Christ and that He will be coming again to save us. But he did not believe Jesus is God.
He continued on until I asked him if he ever read the bible, in particular, John 1:1 and 1:14. Of course, he had not – but he told me that he believed that the Word was made flesh (John 1:14) and that Jesus was God’s Word.
I challenged him to read John 1:1 where it says “the Word was God.” I then asked him to pray to Jesus and ask Him to reveal Himself to him.
We left agreeing to pray for each other and I pray that he will do as I asked and pray to Jesus. A seed was planted.”

Many people do not know that the Koran gives positive roles to Jesus and Mary. This can be a good starting point for conversation with Muslims. Praised be Jesus Christ, Divine Son of God!
