Atlanta, GA. Some members of the SPSE Atlanta team recently traveled to west Atlanta to evangelize and minister to the homeless in the area. They gave food, and handed out backpacks with comfort and personal items in them – blankets, rosaries, miraculous medals, and literature on the Good News of Jesus Christ and Salvation.
Serving the needs of the body together with those of the soul was a new approach for these team members, but it is essentially the same as what they’re used to. Why? Sharing the word of Christ to those who are willing to listen and to consider accepting Him into their lives proclaims Christ as King. Through the offer of prayer, a rosary, and conversation, we proclaim the Kingship of Christ. Adding practical items and a sack lunch or cup of soup, we proclaim this Kingship even more, because we make more evident his kindness and mercy.

All the grace received in our material world flows from Christ through his Church to those who will hear. It is only by that grace that we can show love for our fellow man because there is no other God but God. Look to where there is hatred and derision, oppression and denial of human dignity, and there Christ is eclipsed from our eyes.

Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (Jn 15:5). In this Christmas season find somewhere, in his peace, to enter the vineyard and find a task that needs to be done in God’s name.

God Bless You, and Merry Christmas from the National Office and the Atlanta team of St. Paul Street Evangelization.
