Denise’s team varies in size but consists of about 4-5 regulars. They meet on a bike path, along the river, across from Rotary Park by the Rochester Hills Public Library. It’s a lovely, peaceful spot with the beautiful park in front and the river behind. They go out on Wednesday evenings during the warmer months, usually May through September.
– How has God worked in and through your SPSE team?
We have witnessed many miracles and know of several people who have returned to the Church after being away for a long time. This past summer we had a gentleman that stopped to offer testimony for the miraculous medal and the rosary. He had been by our spot the year before and told us he was diagnosed with throat cancer. We spent time praying over him and gave him a rosary and miraculous medal. This year he stopped by to let us know he was cancer free and that he was going on a radio program to speak about his miracle. He was telling everyone how the miraculous medal and praying the rosary to our Holy Mother every day saved him. That is how God works through evangelism.
– Can you share your experience from Immersion 2019?
Immersion was the perfect opportunity for someone who is just getting started with evangelizing. The sessions provided instructions on how to evangelize and then participants got to put their training into action out on the streets at several venues with experienced evangelists. Immersion was also a wonderful opportunity for experienced evangelists to share their experiences and provide tips for various situations. I witnessed two healing miracles and was personally involved with guiding a woman, who had been away from the Church for over 30 years, to confession. What a terrific feeling of satisfaction. There is no greater feeling than knowing that you helped bring someone back to the faith.
