This report comes from team leader Mark with the Eastern Market SPSE team in Detroit, MI:

Bob, Charlie, and I recently returned to Eastern Market on a hot and sunny Saturday morning. Charlie is fairly new to street evangelization and has become a protégé to the more experienced evangelists in the area. Jehovah’s Witnesses were standing at our usual spot on the main corner. I decided to go half a block down next to another crosswalk.

A young, twenty-something woman approached our table and was very open to religion. She was immediately interested in our Rosaries, Bob gave her a brief explanation of the devotion and asked her if she was Christian. She said yes but doesn’t go to church anywhere. Bob proclaimed the Kerygma then talked about the need to belong to a church, especially a Catholic parish. I asked where she lived and recommended a Catholic parish a couple of miles from her home. I also pointed out a historic Catholic church a few blocks away from where we stood that is open all day for private prayer. She seemed very receptive to everything we said. We prayed with her, she accepted several pamphlets, sacramentals, as well as business cards to follow up.

One teenage girl initially declined our offer of a free Rosary as she quickly walked down the street but she and her brother turned around a minute later and accepted the offer. She and a few other teenagers accepted Rosaries but wouldn’t stay long to talk.

Praised be Jesus Christ!
