The following story comes to us from online School of Evangelization student James:
Recently I started a new job and it seemed I was immediately not liked by a particular lady. My first two days, she seemed very hostile to me. I started praying for her and for myself that I would be able to love her like Jesus, that I could find ways to serve her and that if she was still hostile that I would find the courage to confront her in a loving way. As I began praying for her, things immediately began to change, or at least it seemed that way. In addition, I had purchased several copies of the little book “Advent Gospel Reflections,” by Bishop Robert Barron, to give to my OCIA group. I kept some to give to a couple of people at work. Later, this lady (the one who was very rude) asked me why she didn’t get a copy. I was taken aback because I would have thought she would have been the last person I’d give one to. I apologized to her and promised that I would get her one. A promise I was concerned about keeping because I had purchased the books for the RCIA group I am part of and I left all the copies there, so I wasn’t sure there’d be any left. However, God is so good. I was meeting a group of guys to go bowling with and I was picking up a friend beforehand. I told him I had to make a stop, so I stopped at the parish and there were three copies left. So I was able to bring the lady at work a copy and later that night, after bowling, I was able to share my testimony with the guy I was giving the ride to. Praise the Lord. Please pray for me.
