This report comes from team leader James with our Northern Deanery team in PA:

The Northern Deanery of Harrisburg SPSE group had a booth at the Danville, PA Holiday Street Fair last Saturday. The day was cold (wind chill made it feel like 22 degrees!) In spite of the cold and thanks to the heater we had in our tent we had many people stop by. We prayed with a lady who was facing her first Christmas without her husband, handed out many Miraculous Medals and rosaries and met with a man who was a Christian but searching out the Catholic faith. Our street walking team (Ellen and Andy) handed out dozens of prayer cards, with only a few people saying, “no thank you.” We had seven evangelists on hand and had run a refresher course before the event since our team is very new. Below is a comment by Kathy, one of our evangelists.

This was a great experience with the SPSE evangelists of St. Columba! They love their Catholic faith and hope to bring others to the church. Although I know I have much to learn about this process; the refresher helped us with the most basic things, including how to use the right technique and words, encouraging us to be patient and be aware of other’s needs. It’s been really refreshing to see that many are open to having us pray for a special intention or someone in their family who needs prayers. Some people enjoy receiving a rosary or holy card; and some are open to receiving information on our Catholic faith. For those who were raised Catholic but are not practicing now; they really are happy to receive a rosary! It’s really an honor to hand a rosary to them…knowing that our Blessed Mother is always there to help us and bring us back to Jesus.
