The following report comes to us from team leader Peter with our team in Sebastian, FL:
Recently, we evangelized at the St. Luke Craft Fair & Flea Market, which takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It was beautiful weather, and we had quite a few good encounters. Here are just a few:
Shirley, a happy lady, had a Catholic mom and Protestant dad, was on her second Catholic husband, but was Protestant all her life. She attended Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University, and ran a Christian school for 30 years. Shirley attends Mass with her husband and also a Presbyterian church. She took a comprehensive booklet on the Catholic faith and brochures on Bible Alone, Faith Alone, and Catholic scripture references. She’d like to understand the book of Revelation better, so we referred her to the Bible in a Year podcast. We also prayed she would be free from breast cancer.
Deacon Greg stopped by with a t-shirt on that said, “Need Prayer? Tap my shoulder,” and “IVHISGLORY.COM Community campaign to promote prayer in public places.” (That’s a Roman numeral IV, as in “4 His Glory.”) He said he’s with a group that buys “give bags for the homeless” from the website. The bags contain a shirt and an inspiring message. His group then fills the bags with more goodies for the homeless. The Deacon reminded us to encourage inquirers to contact him for further Catholic inquiry. He provides one-on-one training, including with an over-the-road-trucker.
A gay man said he was overwhelmed with his partner of 27 years being very sick. He was thinking of coming back to church. We shared that God loves him simply because he is His, not because he is good or bad. We said St. Luke parish and its pastor are very welcoming. He took a Good News New Testament and Mass times.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
