The following story comes to us from team leader Lucy with our team in Boise, ID:

Last week, there seemed to be a positive view toward the Church, even from non-Catholics. We used the opportunity to encourage people to pray. So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.

A woman from a passing group, though declining a Rosary, said she hoped, “your new Pope will be a good one.” Notice that there is a sense, even outside of the Catholic Church, that the Papacy matters. Thanks be to God.

A talkative Catholic woman named “Beth” stopped her bicycle at the sight of the table full of Rosaries. Her father passed away recently, and she had been travelling to help her mother. She’d not been to Mass (it sounded like for quite a while). She’d quit going, she said, when the family got busy with four kids active in sports at the same time. However, she was now feeling like she “blew it by not raising them in the Church”. She seemed to be letting herself get sidetracked by ideas of what an acceptable Mass is, and of the external appearance of church buildings. We tried to broaden her idea of what praying the Rosary is all about, and get her to focus on receiving Christ in the Eucharist. We gave her a map to area parishes, pointing out a couple of parishes she might appreciate, but mostly encouraging her to seek a Mass anywhere that fits in with her family’s schedules. Since orange is her favorite color, she chose one of the new chain Rosaries themed in a local university’s colors. We also let her know we are there every Sunday to talk. Please pray for Beth and her family that they will seek first the Kingdom of God.

There were heavily overcast skies and a cool breeze, so foot traffic was light. Still, we gave away 15-20 Rosaries and its pamphlet, as well as a Divine Mercy prayer card, and a map to area parishes.

Please pray for us again today. Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes from today’s efforts.

Jesus Christ is as relevant today as ever. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
