The following is a continuation of yesterday’s story, which comes to us from team leader Lucy with our team in Boise, ID:
A father and adult daughter stopped at the table. The dad said he was familiar with the Rosary because he “used to be Catholic.” We gave him a “Come Home” pamphlet and reminded him how to pray the Rosary. The daughter, who had “lots of Rosaries”, didn’t select one, but started asking about the prayer cards and pamphlets we had on the table. She took a Divine Mercy and a Mary Untier of Knots prayer card, as well as a “Good News” and a “Praying to Saints” pamphlet. It became evident that she was not asking for her own benefit, but so that her father would hear about these things. Pray that the daughter’s love and influence will open the father’s heart to the working of the Holy Spirit.
A non-Catholic dad, leading a bunch of children all on bicycles, selected a Rosary for his adult daughter named “Angel”. She had converted to Catholicism when she married a Catholic and, fortunately, the father had no problem with that or with the Catholic Church in general. He was glad that their marriage was steeped in faith. They started to leave, but the dad circled back and thanked us for being Christians in public. He gave us a small plastic Jesus figure to put on the table. He said it was his way of spreading the Good News: always carrying some mini Jesus figures and putting them in subtle public places. Pray that Angel’s marriage remains rooted in Christ and that the dad’s evangelization efforts bear fruit.
The homeless woman from last week, whose family and ex-husband were hounding her, passed by without stopping, but suggested she was giving up on prayer and just wanted some hope. Please continue to pray for her, so that she does not give in to despair.
Albert, who had picked up a Rosary last week, stopped to tell us he had given it to his sister who is Catholic. He then selected a Rosary for himself and talked at length about his own rather muddled views about God, spiritual practices, and the metaphysical. He agreed that Christ was essential and that it’s easy to get sidetracked by these other things. Yet, he kept circling back to those very things. Pray for Albert, that he hangs on to Our Savior to the end.
Altogether, we gave away 15-20 Rosaries and its pamphlet, 2 Our Lady Untier of Knots prayer cards, 2-3 Divine Mercy prayer cards, 1 St Francis of Assisi prayer card, 1 map to area parishes and at least one Good News/kerygma and one Praying to Saints pamphlet.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
Evidence is that people stand in great need of Our Savior Jesus Christ. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
