The following story comes to us from team leader John with our team in Liberty, MO:

Recently, our team took to the Farmer’s Market for another joyful day of street evangelization. With a youth World Series baseball tournament in full swing at the local sports complex, the market saw an influx of out-of-towners, providing a unique opportunity to share the Gospel with a wider audience. We had dozens of meaningful interactions throughout the morning. Cold bottles of water and free sacramentals—rosaries, Miraculous Medals, pamphlets—proved to be great conversation starters. Complimenting someone on their pet, kids, or a piece of jewelry often opened the door to deeper dialogue. The biggest challenge remains moving from casual small talk to spiritual topics, but we’ve found simple questions like “Are you religious?” or “Do you go to church?” to be effective pivots.

Several Catholics stopped by to encourage us, and offer their support and thanks. One particularly touching moment came from Micah, a newly confirmed Catholic young lady navigating difficult personal challenges. She loves being Confirmed, attending Mass, and is on fire for the Catholic Faith. We have since discussed the Church’s teaching on same-sex attraction, emphasizing love and compassion while remaining rooted in God’s truth. We also met Desiree and Lydia, two Jehovah’s Witnesses who shared a bit about their faith. We had a respectful exchange and left open the possibility of continuing the conversation over coffee someday.

Other Christians were generous with their time and stories. Daren and Becky, wearing “The Way” shirts, shared that Daren is a Pentecostal pastor from Richmond—once involved in Satanism but now a convert. While we didn’t have long, we touched on the power of the Church’s exorcists and the real spiritual warfare in the world. Another man from Liberty Christian Fellowship recognized us from a previous outing and was touched that we remembered him.

Families were out in force, many of whom gratefully received rosaries and medals: Lorren and her three daughters from Shoal Creek Community Church; Cody and Libby with their kids; Emily from Kearney and her two children; Jack and his wife with their four children; Kathleen with five little ones; and a non-Christian couple with four kids, including a newborn, who accepted medals and rosaries with open hearts.

Even local author Andrea Home passed by, shared a brief chat, and sold one of her fantasy novels to a team member. Each encounter reminded us of the beauty of planting seeds—whether it was sharing a smile, offering a sacramental, or beginning a deep spiritual conversation. As always, we trust that the Holy Spirit will continue the work begun at our simple farmer’s market stand. Please keep all those we met in your prayers!

Praised be Jesus Christ!
