The following is the second story in a series that comes to us from team leader Dr. Deb with our team in Owatonna, MN:

Katie, almost 9 months pregnant, stopped to talk and get a blessing for her and her baby girl, due to be born on Sept. 5. We gave her a blessed Guardian Angel medal, and she received a blessing from the Bishop. He teased her that she should hold on a little longer and her baby could be born on Mary’s birthday (Sept. 8) or the Holy Name of Mary (Sept. 12). Katie wasn’t sure she wanted to go over her due date, so he mentioned the closer feasts of St. Monica and St. Augustine. She was grateful for the blessing and the prayers. Please pray for a safe delivery and a healthy baby.

A couple came over to ask for prayers. The wife was suffering from an illness and asked for prayers for health and perseverance. Fr. Sauer got her a St. Jude medal and also told her the story of St. Monica and St. Augustine and how many years St. Monica prayed for her son before his conversion happened. Donna said she’d pray for the gift of perseverance and Father prayed for her needs and gave her a blessing.

On his way to an AA meeting, a man stopped to talk. He shared that he’s been sober for 33 months and he thanks God for helping release him from his addiction. We talked about our belief in God and the power of prayer. He didn’t really have a faith background, so I shared about my Catholic faith and gave him the Why We’re Catholic book before he had to hurry off to his meeting.

A woman, who is a devout Catholic, was delighted that we were out in the Plaza. She was in town with her daughter, who was being evaluated for approval to receive a liver transplant. She shared their journey with her daughter’s health issues and asked for prayer for her. She took a blessed Miraculous Medal and a rosary and Father Sauer prayed for Mariah’s needs and gave Mary a blessing.

A man, struggling to walk, said he could really use prayers. He’d been going to the Mayo Clinic for two years to find out what’s causing his physical and neurological issues. Today was his last appointment. If they couldn’t find what was causing the problem, then there was nothing more they could do. We prayed for his strength, hope and that he’d feel the Lord close to him. We also prayed for the doctors to have the wisdom to find the ailment that was causing Aaron’s problems.

Praised be Jesus Christ!
