The following report comes to us from team leader Sharon with our St. Raphael parish team in Crystal, Minnesota:
It was a sunny, windy Saturday morning as we gathered for our last Drive-Thru prayer ministry of the year (emphasis on “windy”, as the Holy Spirit was definitely blowing through our area.) We had about five on the drive thru, and prayed with an additional three on the sidewalk. All of them are so important and we are convinced that Jesus had this lined up a long time ago! “M” wanted prayers for direction in her job. She also requested prayers for her son that he is accepted in one (or both) orthodox Catholic high schools in our area. She was given a St Joseph medal. “D” stopped by and requested prayers for decreased anxiety and increased peace. After we prayed, she was given a medal of the Sacred Heart to help her remember that Jesus is always with us, even in the midst of a storm.
“M” stopped by and gave us an update on several people we have prayed for in the past, including “B”. “B” came to Drive-Thru Prayer several months ago and was referred to “M”, as “M” has connections in prison ministry. “M” found “B” a place to live with an organization that provides housing for men who had been incarcerated. “T”, who runs the housing program, recently converted to Catholicism and one of our team members was able to attend his Baptism along with “M” to offer spiritual support.
“A”, a Protestant minister who immigrated from Liberia, wanted prayers for doors to open for him. He asked for a Bible and also took a little wooden crucifix. One team member, who loves talking about the Eucharist, told him how the Catholic Church’s belief in Holy Eucharist separates us from Protestant churches and what a gift the Eucharist is. Another team member gave “The Eucharist: True Worship” pamphlet to “A” and a pamphlet about a Catholic radio network along with the frequency of our local affiliate if he wants to find out more about Catholicism.
One faith filled Protestant, “Miss T”, couldn’t believe it when she saw our Drive-Thru Prayer ministry. She had her sister, and four year old special needs grandson in the car with her. We warmly greeted her and asked her how we could pray for her today. She asked for healing in our world as we are in quite distress. She also asked prayers for her grandson, and her family to find their next step forward with Jesus. She was so excited to find somebody on the street that would pray with her. One of our team members gathered three Miraculous Medals with chains and prayer cards from our SPSE free items table. The last thing she shared with us is that she remembers growing up with her six siblings, and her parents lining up all six on their knees, for prayers before bedtime. Indeed, this is a prayer we can all share, so that all families can return to dedication to Christ Jesus. We delivered the Miraculous Medals and prayer cards for them, and let them know we would continue to pray for them.
Along with “Miss T” who came as we were packing up, “E” also came right at the end of our two hour prayer ministry session. “E” requested prayers for his safety and protection as he delivers meals for a meal delivery service. “E” was also given a Miraculous Medal.
We had many great encounters today and our entire Drive-Thru Prayer season. We look forward to next year and what God has in store for us.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
