The following report comes to us from team leader Patti with our St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen team in Detroit, MI:

A few weeks ago, our parish, St. Therese of Lisieux in Shelby Twp., hosted a seminar titled: “Basic Evangelization Training”. As Catholics we are all called to share our beautiful faith: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19-20.) This mandate is known as The Great Commission. We were very fortunate to have Adam Janke from St. Paul Street Evangelization as our speaker. His words were very meaningful, easy to understand, and most importantly, from the heart. He gave us countless examples of how he, and now we, can all evangelize with someone you have never met. We learned that you don’t have to be on a street corner or at a soup kitchen. Instead, you might be picking up groceries, getting your haircut, being at work or any of the places you usually go during the day.

A couple of days later, the opportunity came before me…I went to get a doctor-ordered x-ray. As I walked into the waiting area, I saw another lady waiting for an x-ray. I greeted her with a simple, “Hi, how are you doing today?” She told me she was not too good as she had been recently diagnosed with cancer. We chatted for a few minutes and then, the Holy Spirit nudged me to ask her if she would like to pray together with me. I asked her, she looked surprised but said yes! We prayed together and said our thanks to Jesus. It was a beautiful moment! Today, I was at the hairdresser and my stylist told me about some medical issues that her young daughter was having. This time I was prepared with the Miraculous Medal and a Miraculous Medal Holy card. I offered them to her, she accepted and sincerely thanked me. I am looking forward to the next “nudge”. We all can have these wonderful opportunities in our every-day life if we just allow the Holy Spirit to touch our hearts.

God Bless and thanks be to Jesus Christ!
