The following story comes to us from team leader Nancy with our team in Gaithersburg, MD:
It was a cold and blustery day, but Sheila, Bob and I ventured out to the bus stop where it was fairly crowded despite the cold. Right off the bat Sheila engaged a young adult, Ephraim, who was very eager to accept prayers and to pray the Sacred Heart of Jesus Consecration Prayer with her. That was a beautiful exchange. She then started talking to a woman who is a Jehovah Witness, Ebony, who did not really take any information but did accept prayer for a particular condition. That was an act of mercy on Sheila’s part and a witness to Ebony. Sheila also met Caesar, a young adult who was really struggling with the fear of losing his housing and becoming homeless. She prayed with him that God would provide the means for him to keep his housing. He was very thankful.
I was very much distracted by the cold, trying to keep warm and cried out to God to give me the grace to be out there. I no sooner said that prayer that He led me to Ryan, a young adult who shared with me that he used to be Mormon but left. He was actually seeking where God wanted him next and I shared with him the fullness and beauty of the Catholic faith. He was so open and ready to accept all the information about the good news and different churches in the area. I felt that was a divine appointment. May God guide Ryan to the fullness of the truth of God’s love for him.
Please also pray for Sophia who is Catholic. She has actually been deaf since birth, but I was able to ask her if I could pray with her for the Lord to heal her as I explained to her that it is God’s desire to heal us. I asked her if she believed it, and she said yes! May God demonstrate his power and love to her. Her bus came at that point, so I continue to pray for her healing. Bob and I met Reginald, a very kind young man who is from Sierra Leone and who was actually looking for a church for he and his wife who just moved to the area. We gave him all the information and he was very grateful. May God be praised!
Thank you Lord for all these encounters. May this little chapter continue to bear much fruit for God’s kingdom and Our Lady guide us.
