The following comes to us from team leader Lucy with our team in Boise, ID:
God’s plans are for our good (cf. Jer 29:11). So, thank you again for your prayers for the Boise Catholic street evangelization effort.
A mom, with a double-wide stroller for her twins and two other young children in tow, spent some time taking photos of her older children next to the Christmas tree in the middle of the plaza. When she finally got close enough to hear, we offered her a Rosary. The two kids on foot were a boy of maybe 8 years holding an enormous black umbrella and a little girl closer to 5 years with only her eyes peeking past a stocking cap, scarf, and hood. They ran to the table at the sight of the beads. The mother followed to help them as the children grabbed at the Rosaries. The mom told us that she is a non-Catholic Christian but has Catholics somewhere in the extended family. We explained the Rosary to her, and how it helps people grow closer to Christ. She chose one for herself and one for her husband, as well as for each twin in the stroller, whom Nancy bent down to greet. The mother then told the two female evangelists how she and her husband had conceived despite her early menopause and her husband’s birth-prevention efforts. She knew the twins were a gift from God.
While she was talking, the little girl finally settled on a chain Rosary because it was the only one that would go over all the clothes bundled on her. She then asked Chuck why he was holding “a necklace” in his hand. He replied that it was because we wanted more people to spend time with Jesus who saved us. The little girl kept demanding to know why he held the Rosary in his hand, so he kept repeating his explanation in different ways until she demanded, “It’s supposed to go around your neck, not in your hand!” She then interrupted her mom to show her the Rosary she had selected and said, “It’s for Jesus.” Finally some clarity! Please pray for this family, may the parents guide their children to faith in Christ and may they all be united in love and gratitude for our Savior.
Predictably, the steady rain kept most Boiseans indoors. But some people still ventured out, and ended up encountering us. Nearly half of the session passed before anyone stopped for a Rosary. Most of the few passersby, though, cheerfully returned our “Merry Christmas” greeting. Although foot traffic was light, we still gave away another 12-15 Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it.
Please pray for us again today? Ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s efforts.
God is trustworthy. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate. In turn, may God bless and protect you and all those you love!
