The following story comes to us from team leader Nancy with our team in Gaithersburg, MD:
It was a little warmer today at the bus stop, right before the big storm hit. I had an expectation that God was going to supply some divine appointments. After about a half an hour, things were pretty slow, and I was beginning to lose my enthusiasm. In fact I saw the usual crowd at the end of the terminal who were always smoking and drinking, and I said to myself I am just going to avoid going there.
After a while, however, I ventured over to the end of the terminal and saw the usual people. But to my surprise a lady, Christina, came out and said “I need prayer and I need to get out of the lifestyle I’m leading.” She is Catholic and had received all her sacraments, but had been away from the church. I shared with her my addictions that God delivered me from at my conversion which gave her hope. I pulled out the Sacred Heart Consecration Card where they give their life to God. I asked if she’d like to read it with me. She sensed that this was serious, and she got cold feet. She said “I’ll read it when I get home”, but I knew that was a cop out. I explained to her that she can take authority over her life and explained to her again how God delivered me through the powerful Name of Jesus. She got teary eyed and I began to lead her in a prayer of renunciation in the Name of Jesus. I told her I was going to be back on Saturday and in the meantime it’d be really good for her to go to Confession. Please pray for Christina that God would reveal his power and love to her.
God indeed heard our prayer! A week later Christina came off the bus and saw me and ran to give me a big hug. She was back with her children (whom her mom was watching) and she had not drank for a whole week. I gave her some resources from SPSE, videos and testimonies of how people were delivered of their additions and ways to stay free. She was so grateful. Sheila and I also prayed over Tina, a similar situation as Christina, and she surrendered her life to God and asked to be delivered of her addiction. She also received resources to help keep her free. Please pray for Tina.
It is such a privilege sharing the good news with people because it can completely alter the person’s life you are sharing with and put them on the right road to heaven. Thank you God for this missionary work.
