The following report comes to us from team leader Dan with our team in Sicklerville, New Jersey:
Our station has been operating monthly since May 2025. We now have 12 active members and are growing. Our usual SPSE site is a big farmers market with an indoor and, weather permitting, outdoor facility. Foot traffic is good, and we usually have 50 to 100 people stop at our table over the six hours we’re there. Management is very welcoming and does not charge us for our space because we’re not selling anything. We follow the recommended SPSE procedures with everything. Among our many memorable encounters are these:
Two young men told us they are trying to decide whether to be Protestant or Catholic. We gave them good, solid Biblical and historical reasons why they should choose Catholicism. Because of what we said, both seemed to be leaning toward the Church.
Another middle aged man hit us with the faith vs. good works argument. We stood our ground with the truth; at many places the New Testament says it’s faith and good works that saves. We exchanged email addresses and he later sent another question about theology, which we promptly researched and answered for him. He’s seen us several times since and is always friendly. Another member spent a lot of time on the phone over days to help get a man lined up with a congregation that speaks Spanish and has Mass in Spanish.
Several of us have prayed over people, and, of course, we’ve given out many Miraculous Medals and crucifix necklaces, rosaries, pamphlets on point with what a person said, other sacramentals, books, etc. We know that it’s good to inject the Church into the public square in an obvious way, sowing seeds, but we also know the rest is up to the Holy Spirit. Our group has meetings frequently, discussing how to improve our technique.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
