The following report comes to us from team leader Joseph with our St. Joseph parish team in Waxahachie, TX:

We set up the table at the Bethlehem Revisited event in Waxahachie, which is an event that has been a regular tradition in the DFW area for over twenty years. It attracts many families at the opening of the holidays. The event recreates 1st century Bethlehem complete with Roman guards, a living Nativity, crafts, live animals and Herod’s court.

We obtained a prime location near the entrance to the venue. Because the event began after dark, we had a light illuminating our table. Many people came up to ask us where the beginning of the venue was which gave us the opportunity to offer a rosary, ask them if they went to church and if we could pray for them.

We were privileged to encounter and interact with many people. Many allowed team members to pray with them. Intentions ranged from the practical (needing a new catalytic converter) to more heartbreaking (for a mother who lost an infant in an accident.) We were all privileged to lift intentions concerning lapsed family, pregnancies, health and so much more to the Lord on behalf of these souls.

A lady named Rosemary asked for prayer for her daughter who needed “stability”. She said she was raised Catholic but had left the Church to be a Lutheran with her husband. After prayer, she said it was beautiful, then went on her way. A little while later she returned, offered a large cash donation (which we declined, of course) and said, “You guys make me want to return to the Catholic Church!” Praise God!

We know God sends us the people He wants us to meet and talk to. We are so fulfilled through acts of simple obedience by showing up and speaking the truth. As our Blessed Mother proclaims at the Visitation, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”

Praised be Jesus Christ!
