The following story comes to us from team leader Joseph with our new St. Peter the Apostle team in Trinity, FL:
Our SPSE team joined the non-profit microchurch team, Revive and Restore, at their weekly OLPH Catholic Church Outreach in Ybor City, FL. Revive and Restore feeds the homeless and shares the love of Christ in the Tampa Bay area. We had such a blessed time!
It was a beautiful time filled with many wanting to learn about Jesus and to be prayed for. We handed out many tiny Jesus statues for people to keep in their pockets, so they are always reminded Jesus is ALWAYS with them and he loves them. People loved them! Many of the guests were eager to have a rosary and a pamphlet on how to pray the rosary too. Dora sat with a young man and personally taught him how to pray the rosary and how to follow along with the pamphlet.
We prayed for Lavalle to get back on his feet, Therman to find permanent housing and his health, Sam for his lung issues, dizzy, trouble breathing and was hurting because his inhaler was empty. We also prayed for Tanesha for a home because her boyfriend was convicted of a felony and now, she and her child were homeless, scared and of course she was very emotional. Joe prayed for her in general, and to find hope in Jesus. I prayed for Ronnie’s shoulder, arm and hernia. Being homeless and sleeping on the cement streets along with his excessive weight was causing many health issues. After we were talking, he mentioned that he and his sister were going on an apartment interview next week, so we prayed for great success in getting accepted into the program and a home with a bed to sleep on. Tryon was feeling down today, he lost his home some time ago and is typically a happy person no matter the circumstances but today he was blue. He was especially appreciative of our prayer time and the blessings. Another gentleman had heart and hernia issues and was feeling very depressed due to being passed up for an apartment due to his girlfriend having an eviction in 2008, even though he had a medical reason. Dora’s Spanish came in handy with a small group of friends Patrica, Julia and Manuel who she spoke to about the rosary, Jesus and prayers. One lady asked for a large print King James Bible…we will see if we can find one. Lucky loved his rosary and asked if we could bring a blue & black one on our next visit.
Praised be Jesus Christ!
