The following report comes to us from evangelist Mason with our team in Greenville, South Carolina:

We went once again to the Barnyard Flea Market to evangelize. It was slower than usual. But we did finally meet David, a vendor who is always set up in the booth next to us. He is going in for surgery next Friday to have the lower lobe of one of his lungs removed due to cancer, and asked for our prayers. Of course we promised, and Karen, the vendor who always sets up on the other side of us, also committed to praying for David.

David’s wife Becky asked a question about confession and how a murderer could possibly go to Heaven just by going to confession before he dies. I explained that true contrition for your sins is required in order for the spoken absolution to be actually granted…I mentioned the story of the men who toiled in the vineyard at different times of the day and how it didn’t seem fair that the last ones to enter the vineyard were given the same pay as the ones who toiled through the heat of the whole day; things that don’t seem fair to us are sometimes to demonstrate God‘s generosity and great mercy.

Brittany took a Miraculous Medal and card as well as a “Pillar of Fire” booklet. She was sent over to our table by her mom who is a vendor in another aisle. Her mom is influential in the Filipino community and offered to promote SPSE to that community.

John Henry dropped by, who is a member of a Pentecostal Holiness church. He asked questions about the books of the Bible and why Catholics have more books in our Bible. I talked about the canonization process and that it was done by the Catholic Church. I also explained the difference between deuterocanonical books and truly apocryphal books such as the gospel of Thomas. We gave him two pamphlets: “The Truth of the Bible” and “The Bible Alone (the doctrine of Sola Scriptura)” for which he was grateful.

Praised be Jesus Christ!
