The following comes to us from team leader Lucy with our team in Boise, ID:
A young-adult couple stopped for a Rosary. He’s Catholic, but not connected yet with a local parish. He asked about where to find a Mass in Spanish, so we gave him a map and directed him to the one parish with a Sunday evening Spanish Mass. We also gave him a copy of the Rosary booklet in Spanish. Pray that their desire to receive Christ in Word and Bread will continue unto life everlasting.
A Catholic man who had served in the military showed us the cross he wears around his neck. It had been blessed by Pope Benedict XVI and given to him when he was deployed in active service, from which he returned safely. He thanked us for being there. Besides a Rosary, he also accepted a St Michael relic card.
Two young-adult women walking a dog stopped for Rosaries. One of the women put the Rosary on the dog’s neck (ironically, just as I was saying we should treat it with reverence). I asked her to take it off the dog, and the woman apologized and did so. Pray that this encounter will help these young women treat both the Rosary and the Church with more reverence.
After the evangelists had packed up and walked to their vehicles, they were standing on the sidewalk chatting when six teenage boys approached them. We noticed one of them held a Bible, so we asked them what they were doing. They were an ecumenical group of both Catholics and non-Catholic Christians who wanted to spend the summer serving God by feeding the hungry. We praised their faithful initiative and told them we were serving God, too, by encouraging people to pray. They were as thrilled with this meeting as we were, and we prayed around the circle extolling God in gratitude. Pray for these young men, that their enthusiasm to serve God will grow and their resolution to be on the streets in His name will remain firm.
Altogether, we gave away 15-20 Rosaries and its pamphlet on how to pray it, a copy each of the “What About Mary?”, “Praying to the Saints”, and “Eucharist: True Worship” pamphlets, 2 maps, and a St Michael relic card.
Please pray for us, and ask God to send people to us with hearts prepared to perceive their need for Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church, and that much good fruit for His Kingdom comes of today’s effort.
Although we lead with the Rosary, we are actually an informal Catholic information booth. So, thank you again for your prayers and other support for this apostolate! In turn, may God protect and greatly bless you and all those you love!
