The following report comes to us from team leader Sarah with our team in Macon, Georgia:

As I reflect on the different days we’ve been together as a team on the streets of Macon, I’m very thankful for each and every one of our team members. They all have a BIG heart for Christ and this comes across in each person they encounter. One day during one of our usual outings downtown, we met a gentleman who indicated he’d been away from church for quite some time (was raised in the Baptist church) and felt the Lord was speaking through us because he was just thinking about going back to church again. As I spoke with him about one good reason I am Catholic, he listened attentively as I shared about the meaning of the Eucharist in my life and how having the opportunity to receive the Lord not just on Sundays but throughout the week has enabled me to navigate life differently, in both good times and bad. He asked about when our services were on Sunday and the beauty of it was we had bulletins with us that day and the church was visible from where we set up our table. He mentioned he had been inside St. Joseph’s before and spoke of the tremendous beauty of the architecture and the stained glass windows, etc. The church is very much a part of the history of Macon and our Catholic heritage. As we asked him if there was anything we could pray about that day, he held up the cigarette in his hand and said he would very much want to stop smoking for good. At the same time, he recognized how difficult this would be for him. I am always amazed at the individuals that God puts in our path. Even on this account, I could witness about how my mom was able to quit after 40 years of smoking! The Lord reassures us that with Him, “all things are possible”, and I trust this man is already seeing this realized in his efforts to stop smoking…and get back to church!

Praised be Jesus Christ!
