The following report comes to us from team leader Mark with our team in Cincinnati, OH:
We (Tom, Don, John, Pat and myself) evangelize outside the student center at the University of Cincinnati, a major public research university with over 50,000 students. The student center is kind of their “Main Street”, located just outside the north entrance of Tangeman University Center. This day we had to move across Main Street outside Schmidt Hall where Subway is located. Based on the surrounding Cincinnati area, we’d guess that about 40-60% of students are Christian (mix of Catholic & Protestant), although certainly not everyone is practicing. The next largest groups would be unaffiliated and minority religions (Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, etc.)
We have evangelized on Fridays all of this term (weather permitting, of course). This was probably our 8th or 9th outing since January. Early on, Tom had a pleasant chat with a young man who seemed to listen to what he had to say about the faith. Later, Tom and I had a good conversation with a UC student – she’s a Hindu but interested in Catholicism. Don had an animated conversation with a Muslim student. I’d say he was “rocking the Catholic vibe” pretty strongly!
Praised be Jesus Christ!
