The following story comes to us from team leader Dr. Deb with our team in Owatonna, MN:

After navigating construction and praying together, Tom and I made our way to Peace Plaza and set up near the fountain. Despite a forecast of rain, the Lord blessed us with dry weather for most of our time there.

Our first conversation was with Joe, who has been sober for 33 months. We thanked God for his sobriety and prayed with him. Joe spoke about his recovery journey, his hope of obtaining permanent housing, and his desire to help others struggling with addiction. He gladly accepted a crucifix and Gospel card and offered to sponsor anyone seeking recovery, emphasizing that true healing begins when a person genuinely desires change.

Shortly afterward, we met Maria, who asked for prayers as she also battled addiction. We listened to her story, prayed for healing and strength, and gave her a blessed crucifix, rosary, prayer book, and rosary pamphlet. Maria was grateful to receive Joe’s contact information but admitted she wasn’t yet ready to pursue recovery. We encouraged her and promised our continued prayers.

Next, we met Aaron, who was out walking with his caregiver. He chose a St. Patrick medal and asked us to pray that he would stay safe while driving a tractor on his family’s farm. After praying for his health and safety, he happily received his medal.

As light rain began, we moved under a nearby canopy and met Kiera, who was visiting Mayo Clinic with her mother and grandmother. Kiera shared that she was suffering from a serious illness causing her to grow weaker and lose weight. When offered a medal, she asked, “Which one can keep you from dying?” We explained the Miraculous Medal, and she chose that one. We prayed for her healing, her upcoming August wedding, and that she would be a witness to God’s goodness. Her grandmother also received a DVD set on the Creed. Before leaving, Kiera asked for my contact information so she could update us if her condition improved or if she experienced a miraculous healing.

As the rain increased, we hurried back to the parking lot, thanking God for the people He placed in our path that afternoon. God is so good!
